Finding good stocks to invest in seems impossible. When the big one hits and you find out it is already too late to act on it. How do successful people know before it hits?

I don’t trust some of the so called “experts” so much. It seems like some of the more recognized experts actually create the frenzy. Chicken & egg syndrome.

Do I have to go through a broker? Can I buy it directly from the company? I have never bought stock before. I have a friend who works at Forward Air, and he thinks they are a good company. I want to get my feet wet in the stock market. Is there a minimum amount I have to spend to buy a stock?
