Free Stock Market Tips

A friend sells his stock whenever the stock drops 7% after purchase or his cost. That strategy saved him a lot in the past year when the market dropped about 50%. However, that also means, he lost all his gains with his stocks when the stock market dropped.

Should he have a strategy to sell after GAINING, say 50%, and then re-buy the stock back, while maintaing the SELLING strategy of 7% of cost?

In my Social Studies/History class, our teacher has created a game for us to play with a virtual stock exchange. You start out with $100,000. This game uses all real stock prices from legitimate companies. Kind of like E-Trade. Only no risk . Does anybody know what would be a good stock to invest in?

Company X declared a quarterly dividend of $1.85 per share, payable Oct. 31 to shareholders of record on Sept. 29.

Does that mean I only need to buy the stock on that date to receive the dividend? Can I sell it the next day? How long do I need to hold the stock? Do I need to own it before the declared date? I just want to know of all the people and buy and sell the stock, how do they determine who gets the dividend?

So I own stock and mine doesn’t pay a dividend, but i am thinking about cashing in my current stock and put my money in some stock with a high dividend yield. I was just wondering if there is a certain time length that you must keep your money in that particular dividend stock to qualify for the dividends, or if the company starts paying you the first quarter that you own the stock…

i sometimes find myself watching “the mad-man” jim cramer and he is entertaining and all but hes just one man and in a way seems a little looney. im looking for good credible advice and im willing to do the homework. i have a basic knowledge of how to pick stocks and have been somewhat successful but there has to be more good info out there. thank-you.
